Radon concentration anomaly characteristics in the North–South seismic belt before strong earthquake

چکیده
Seismic underground fluids play an important role in earthquake prediction studies and tracking. Nearly 30 years of radon concentration monitoring data at 42 observation sites the North–South seismic belt (22°-35° N, 100°-110° E) were collected from National Earthquake Data Center China Networks Center. The possible precursor anomalies observed before several strong earthquakes investigated their spatial distribution, evolution, variation characteristics analyzed. results showed that high, morphological are relatively complex. anomaly mainly shows turning point or accelerating change trend background change; longer durations tend to be concentrated around epicenters. number points with was positively correlated proximity epicenter; measurement closest epicenter exhibited earlier anomalies. research has practical significance scientific value for understanding relationship between earthquake.

Anomalous changes in atmospheric radon concentration before and after the 2011 northern Wakayama Earthquake (Mj 5.5)
A significant increase in atmospheric radon concentration was observed in the area around the epicentre before and after the occurrence of the shallow inland earthquake in the northern Wakayama Prefecture on 5 July 2011 (Mj 5.5, depth 7 km) in Japan. The seismic activity in the sampling site was evaluated to identify that this earthquake was the largest near the sampling site during the observa...
متن کامل7 Radon as Earthquake Precursor
Earthquake predictions are based mainly on the observation of precursory phenomena. However, the physical mechanism of earthquakes and precursors is at present poorly understood, because the factors and conditions governing them are so complicated. Methods of prediction based merely on precursory phenomena are therefore purely empirical and involve many practical difficulties. A seismic precurs...
متن کاملTime-scale invariant changes in atmospheric radon concentration and crustal strain prior to a large earthquake
Prior to large earthquakes (e.g. 1995 Kobe earthquake, Japan), an increase in the atmospheric radon concentration is observed, and this increase in the rate follows a power-law of the time-to-earthquake (time-to-failure). This phenomenon corresponds to the increase in the radon migration in crust and the exhalation into atmosphere. An irreversible thermodynamic model including time-scale invari...
متن کاملA study of fluctuation in radon concentration behaviour as an earthquake precursor
Before, during and after many large earthquakes significant change in concentration of radon has been observed in China, Japan and India. To establish this behaviour as a potential earthquake precursor, it is important to understand the phenomenon in terms of geodynamics. Here I propose a geodynamic model to establish a correlation between precursory radon concentration fluctuations and an impe...
متن کاملRadon concentration in thermal water as an indicator of seismic activity.
Radon concentration in thermal springs at Hotavlje and Bled has been measured from October 2005 to June 2008 and from October 2005 to September 2007, respectively. At both locations several anomalies in radon concentration were observed, that might have been caused by seismic events. In this study all earthquakes with ratio (D/R) between strain radius (D) and distance to the epicenter (R) great...
